META ART

ART WITH PURPOSE

WHERE AESTHETICS MEETS WELL-BEING

Frequency-based abstract paintings created through deep meditative channeling, used as perceptual portals through Ocular Meditation™ — an eyes-open contemplative practice rooted in the ancient Sanskrit tradition of Trataka.

MetaArt™ paintings are not designed. They are received — built in layers over weeks or months, each layer arriving only when called. Created through deep meditative channeling, the resulting works function as perceptual portals: visual environments that viewers enter rather than simply observe.

Research in neuroaesthetics suggests that sustained visual engagement with complex abstract imagery activates the brain's Default Mode Network — associated with self-referential awareness and introspection — while inducing alpha and theta brainwave states consistent with deep meditation, and supporting parasympathetic nervous system activation. MetaArt™ works precisely in this space.

The paintings do not instruct or impose meaning. They function as mirrors — reflecting back something the viewer already carries but may not yet be able to name.

"These are frequencies masquerading as paintings."

What is Ocular Meditation™?

Ocular Meditation™ is an eyes-open contemplative practice rooted in the ancient Sanskrit tradition of Trataka — sustained visual gazing — in which viewers soften their gaze on a MetaArt™ painting and sustain relaxed, open attention for an extended period.

Unlike breath-based or closed-eye meditation, Ocular Meditation™ uses visual perception as the direct pathway to inner states. No instruction required. No prior experience necessary. No verbal capacity needed. Only the ability to look.

  • Viewers consistently report:

    • Perceived movement or dimensionality within static imagery

    • Rapid shifts into calm, focused, or expanded states of awareness

    • Spontaneous emotional release or clarification

    • A felt sense of interaction or resonance with the visual field

    • Access to non-verbal, intuitive, or imaginal cognition

Where MetaArt Lives

Commissioned Paintings
Every commissioned MetaArt™ painting is channeled in direct attunement with the person, organization, or space it will serve. There is no other painting in the world with that frequency. Through Ocular Meditation™, the work becomes a daily practice — a permanent portal to the viewer's own deepest knowing.

Healthcare & Healing Spaces
When a MetaArt™ painting lives in a hospital, wellness center, or healing room, it functions as an ongoing perceptual environment — working on every person who enters, continuously, without facilitation. MetaArt™ is currently installed in K–12 calm and sensory rooms and has been used with neurodiverse populations.

The Immersive MetaProcess™
A 2.5-day guided retreat in which individuals or groups access collective expanded states of awareness through visual meditation, sound, and creative emergence. A commissioned painting anchors the experience — a permanent portal to what was accessed together.

Speaking & Research
Lee Ann speaks at conferences, institutions, and gatherings at the intersection of art, consciousness, and healing. She is in early research collaboration with the University of Virginia's Division of Perceptual Studies and is a member of the National Organization for Arts in Health.

Art as Therapy: The Science, the Spirit and the Global Meditation Movement with Hilary Russo

On the HIListically Speaking podcast, LeeAnn Heltzel talks with host Hilary Russo about how visual perception, nervous-system balance, and mindful presence come together in healing. LeeAnn explains that MetaArt and Ocular Meditation function as psychosensory tools that help the body achieve calm, clarity, and integration through visual input.

Together, they connect science and spirit, demonstrating how these practices support emotional balance, body awareness, and deeper presence. This episode invites you to see art as more than just something to look at, but as somethingthat meets you wherever you are.
